It was a warm night and being located by a small river there were plenty of midges so my sleep was not the best. Breakfast had been arranged for 7.00 am which we enjoyed with our hosts before setting out around 7.30 am for our intended destination of Ouhans. It was raining when we left requiring the use of wet gear. Despite the rain, it was an enjoyable walk along well-defined tracks. We passed by Montgesoye and the river Loue and later Vuillafans where the path continued to follow the river. It was still raining when we arrived around 11.30 am at the delightful location of Lods also located on the river Loue. Wet and bedraggled we found a small hotel where we were able to dry out and enjoy coffee and delicious cheese and ham baguettes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After resting we continued on our way to the beautiful village of Mouthier-Haute-Pierre where we passed the Cascade de Syratu and where we took the track to the source of the River Loue. It was a wonderful walk along a small single-track woodland path with the Loue and its many waterfalls below us as we walked. The path was very up and down and at times rather difficult with tree roots protruding and Jean Pierre had an unfortunate fall. It was a good two hours before we reached the source where the river cascades from its underground travels. We rested here to enjoy the sight of the waterfall and for a snack and also to dress the cut on Jean Pierre’s arm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jean-Pierre had arranged accommodation for us in a small homely bed and breakfast which was just a twenty-minute walk from the source of the Loue. On arrival, we were greeted by Mrs. Salamon and her son with a welcome pot of tea, and later at supper, we were joined by Mr. Salamon.<\/p>\n\n\n
